At Ideal Body Institute (formerly Georgia SurgiCare), we offer the most advanced bariatric weight loss programs and procedures for weight loss. One of the many procedures we offer is the Orbera Gastric Balloon – an innovative, non-surgical approach.
The Orbera® Intragastric Balloon System is a bariatric weight loss procedure that uses a gastric stomach balloon made from soft silicone that occupies space in the stomach. With less stomach space available, you will adapt to healthier portion sizes, ultimately leading to improved weight loss. It has been shown that with Orbera, patients lose up to 3X the weight of diet and exercise alone! This weight loss procedure is a two-part program designed for effective, motivating results that you can see.
At Ideal Body Institute, we provide a real-world roadmap to weight-loss success, before and after surgery. Dr. Chris Ibikunle’s comprehensive weight loss program will discover the correct weight loss surgery is right for you, help you lose weight, and ensure you keep the weight off. In conclusion, the question isn’t whether we can help you with your weight problem, but how. Here’s what we tell our patients in Buckhead, Loganville, and Atlanta, Georgia, about each of these surgeries to help them decide which one is right for them.
We believe top notch medical care should be accessible to everyone. At Ideal Body Institute, we work with highly respected medical specialists and offer state-of-the-art technology to deliver the highest quality medical care to our community. Guided by compassion and dedicated to outstanding results, we deliver affordable healthcare to our family of patients.
The Orbera balloon is a non-surgical procedure performed while you are under a mild sedative. The thin, deflated Orbera balloon is placed into the stomach. The balloon is then filled with saline until it’s about the size of a grapefruit. The procedure typically takes about 20 to 30 minutes, so you can go home the very same day At six months, the balloon is removed in the same way. Through a non-surgical procedure done under a mild sedative, it is deflated first then removed.
The weight loss is rapid, with the majority of weight loss typically occurring in the first three months of your Atlanta Orbera Balloon treatment. On average, patients lost 3.1 times the weight loss of diet and exercise alone. The adjustments to your eating habits and your continued efforts to stay active will greatly influence your results. During the six months where the Orbera® balloon is inside the stomach is when patients see the most drastic weight loss.
After the Orbera® balloon is taken out, the goal is to you accustomed to healthy habits so that you can maintain your hard-earned weight loss. It is important to remember that the Orbera balloon is only a tool to help build healthy, lifelong habits.
During the entire 12-month Orbera® weight loss program, patients will have regular face-to-face sessions with their treatment team, dietitian, fitness trainer, psychologist, and exercise psychologist. We will be there for you every step of the way!
After six months with the Orbera two-part program, people lost an average of 3.1 times the weight patients lost with diet and exercise alone.
Side effects that may result from the use of the Orbera® balloon include risks associated with endoscopic procedures and the ability to accept a foreign object placed in the stomach. Other possible side effects include: partial or bowel blockage, little or no weight loss, adverse health consequences resulting from weight loss, stomach pain, continuing nausea and vomiting, abdominal or back pain, acid reflux, influence on food digestion, blockage of food going to the stomach, bacterial growth in the fluid filling the balloon which can lead to infection, injury to the lining of the digestive tract, stomach or esophagus, and balloon deflation.
If you are an adult suffering from obesity (BMI higher than 30) and in search of a non-surgical treatment option, then our Buckhead Orbera Balloon might be just right for you!
It is an outpatient procedure that only takes about 15 minutes, with no stay required.
