How does the TIF Procedure work?

A specially designed endoscope with a camera is transorally (through the mouth) placed into the stomach and the stomach is inflated. The scope is then positioned to view the junction between the esophagus and the stomach. Next, the physician will pull down the tissue from the gastroesophageal valve (GEV) and wraps the tissue around it to make a new valve.

This newly created valve is fastened to fuse the tissue. During this time if there is a hiatal hernia the surgeon will also fix it saving you the hassle of having to have another operation.

What are the Benefits of the TIF Procedure?

  • Affordable.
  • Long-lasting.
  • No incisions.
  • Outpatient – no hospital stay.
  • Great results – no need for acid reflux medications.
